TRM Cabin Weekend - January 31-February 2, 2025

Participants: Elizabeth Smith, Forest Dean, Corey Hinshaw, Stefan Kolis, Kevin Ewing, Francis Horton

Another great weekend of skiing up above our club cabin!  Five of us (minus Francis, he came up late evening) started up from the gate at about 3:00pm on Friday.  Enough coverage to skin from the car.  We took 2.5 hours to climb the 3.5 miles/3000’ to the cabin. Was starting to snow as we arrived.  A fun evening ensued.  No alpine start on Saturday.  The wind had picked up overnight and snow had piled up.  We started up the mountain around 9:30 and went to summit.  Had a nice 2000’ run down the east face (north bowl)- so nice that we went back and did it again.  A couple of the group headed back to the cabin and the rest of us took a third lap.  Tired, we all reconvened at the cabin by 4:00pm.  Eating, drinking, music, games, singing and dancing rounded out this fun day!  And the snow continued to fall…

 Stefan, Francis and Kevin got an earlyish start up the mountain for some more “South Bowl” laps on Sunday.  Elizabeth and Forest headed up after a solid breakfast and did one more long “North Bowl” lap.  We all headed down from the cabin at different times and enjoyed surprisingly good turns most of the way.  It was hard to leave such a winter wonderland!  Forest Dean
